Traveling Pony Studio

One of the most asked questions I receive at markets is how did I get into crochet?

Before starting Traveling Pony Studio, I had never crocheted before. It wasn’t a hobby that I had picked up years prior, and none of my family members crocheted.

My horse, Sloan, had just had extensive surgery done on his foot, which resulted in large vet bills and time off from riding. Pair that with my decision to stop teaching in the equine industry, I was lost.

I happened to walk into Michaels one day and saw yarn on sale. Crochet had never crossed my mind, but I found myself grabbing a few skeins of cotton, a crochet hook, and then went home that night to test it out. By the end of the week, I had made over ten little octopus. Once I started, I couldn’t stop.

A few friends bought some items and I found myself wondering, “What if?”

What if this could help pay Sloan’s medical bills? What if this could give me a purpose I had been missing? The rest is history.
